Our Passenger Vessel L/M Quetru: The Queen of Glacier Lake

"Our immaculate queen of Glacier Lake will take you to visit indescribable landscapes, suitably equipped to arrive safely to within a few meters of the Great Glacier. With accommodation for 60 passengers, she has comfortable seats, heating and a cafeteria to make the experience a pleasant one. On her upper deck you will be able to feel the wind blowing from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field to fill you with energy, contemplate the impressive landscape, which will penetrate deeply into your spirit, and take unique photographs to remind you vividly of the sights your eyes have admired.

¿Why “Quetru”?

The Quetru is a native Patagonian Steamer Duck (Tachyeres patachonicus and Tachyeres pteneres) which is large and heavy in seacoast areas and consequently flightless, while on the lakes in-land it is lighter and able to fly. Nonetheless, in order to move quickly from place to place, both kinds perform a running-on-water spectacle, taking alternate steps with each webbed foot and aiding themselves with little flapping movements of their short wings.

The main features of our vessel Quetru are:

- Length: 66 feet.
- Beam: 17.5 feet.
- Engines: 2 powerful MTU V8 turbo engines, 850 hp each.
- Maximum Speed: 20 knots.
- Cruising Speed: 12 knots.

Warning: Schedules and frequencies can be affected by adverse weather conditions or force majeure. Should confirm departure times 12 hours before at the local office of Robinson Crusoe in Villa O'Higgins, telephone 56 - 67-243 18 11 The Service does not consider reimbursement of any additional expenses due to suspended or delayed departures, which will be assumed by each passenger.
